Regulations for the Admission and Enrollment

Article 1 General conditions for Admission 

1. Those (aged between 17-25) applying for HBUST should be friendly to China and Chinese people, have a general understanding of the Chinese cultures as well as a certain proficiency of the Chinese language, and have no bad habits (such as drugs) or criminal records. 

2. Applicants together with their guardians shall get a good understanding of the educational principles, cultivating objectives, majors of study, conditions for issuing certificates, school fees and relevant regulations of HBUST. 

3. Relevant documents required for undergraduate applicants:

3.1 One photocopy of passport;

3.2 High school graduation certificate or equivalent proof of high school diploma；(original and its translation)

3.3 Ultimate graduation school grades of high school level；(original and its translation)

3.4 Personal profile；
3.5 One photo named after the applicant's passport number; the format of the applicant's photo: 2 inch bare-headed ID photo, blank border white background, the head occupying 2/3 of the size of the photo; the photo size: no less than 320*240 pixels, the aspect ratio 4:3, 100-500KB, JPG format. 

4. Applicants should have a good achievement of high school studies, should be honest and have a strong desire to study in HBUST with determination and capabilities to complete the study. 

5. Applicants shall have the financial capacity to pay all the expenses (including tuition, accommodation, insurance, daily expenses) on schedule required by HBUST. 

6. Applicants who have passed HSK4 can go to the Clinical Medicine Major study program directly. Otherwise they have to learn Chinese in the first year and pass HSK4 before they join the program. 

Article 2 The Procedure and Treatment of disqualified Applicants 

1. Applicant shall submit the application materials to HBUST and can be issued a “Letter of Admission” only if they are qualified according to the requirements set up by the Provincial Education Department. 

2. Applicants can apply for entry visas on the basis of the Letter of Admission. The ones who can pass medical examination and interviews can be enrolled as foreign students of HBUST after the payment of fees. 

3. If applicants are found to have infectious diseases or their abilities to complete schooling are detained, HBUST will deal with the cases differently, including disqualifying them. 

4. Those who are not admitted shall immediately leave HBUST and return to their country. HBUST does not bear any related costs and losses. 

Article 3 Check in, Payment and Enrollment

1.Applicants are required to check in on time together with the Letter of Admission, the Medical Examination Form and study visa and other relevant documents required by HBUST. 

2.Those who pass the physical examination and interview shall pay off all the fees for the first academic year within one week after the result of the examination and interview are clear, and then finish going through the procedures of enrollment and Residence Permit (RP).

3.Those who fail to enroll on time shall go through the suspension of enrollment (maximum 30 days). HBUST shall give warning to those who fail to register without any reasons. Those who fail to register for more than two weeks will be disqualified or expelled. 

4.Those who fail to pay off the fees or enroll on time more than one week without special reasons will be disqualified. 

Article 4 Transfer to other Universities

HBUST does not normally encourage students to transfer to other universities or accept students transferred from other universities in China.

Fees for tuition and accommodation and the other related fee (Academic year：9,2020 — 6,2021)

1)The first academic year(for learning Chinese):

Tuition fee: RMB10000 yuan;  Accommodation fee : RMB 4000 yuan.

2) From the second to the sixth academic year (for learning Clinical Medicine):

Tuition fee: RMB 16000 yuan every academic year; Accommodation fee: RMB4000 yuan every academic year;

3) Book fees and insurance premium will be paid according to the facts.
