Guizhou Education University is located in Wudang District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. It is a provincial full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. The university is formerly known as Guizhou Institute of Education, which was founded in 1978. In March 2009, upon the approval by Ministry of Education, Guizhou Institute of Education was transformed into a full-time undergraduate university, and renamed as Guizhou Education University. In 2013, the university obtained the qualification of granting bachelor's degree. In 2015, the university successfully passed the assessment of undergraduate teaching by the Ministry of Education. In 2016, the university was selected as the master degree awarding project construction unit of Guizhou Province during the "13th Five-Year Plan". In 2017, it was approved as the construction unit of provincial "Double First-class" construction project. 

The university is the first "green university", the first "civilized campus" and "characteristic culture university" in Guizhou Province. It is the only national-level "Chinese Education Base" in Guizhou Province, and has institutions and platforms such as Guizhou Education Administrative Cadre Training Center, National Training Base for Primary and Secondary School Principals in Western Region of the Ministry of Education, and "Chinese Rural Society Research Center (Guizhou)" of the Ministry of Culture.

There are 18 schools (departments) and 46 undergraduate majors, offering 10 disciplines such as Economics, Law, Education, Literature, Science, Engineering and so on, and we have 13,559 full-time undergraduate students. A multi-level and multi-form talent training system has been formed, including undergraduate education, postgraduate education, international student education and continuing education. There is an affiliated middle school -- Guizhou Experimental Middle School. By the end of 2019, There are l,096 employees in service, 803 full-time teachers, including 480 associate professors and professors, 212 doctors and 524 masters. 

Since 2012, 102 national-level projects has been approved, including 50 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and 52 projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation of China. More than 290 provincial-level scientific research projects and more than 150 horizontal projects has also been approved. And our teachers has won nearly 50 provincial or ministerial awards for scientific research achievements.

The university, upholding the philosophy of open education, has established friendly cooperation with more than 70 universities and educational institutions in the United States, Canada, Thailand, Taiwan and other countries and regions, joined the “International Education Union” and “Sino-Thai Higher Education Alliance”, established counterpart relations with universities such as Central China Normal University and Qingdao University etc, and signed cooperation agreement with Langchao Group LTD, education bureaus of various cities (prefectures) in Guizhou Province, People's Government of Wudang District, Guiyang as well as other enterprises, education firms and local governments for cooperation in education.
