Founded in 1951, Tianjin Railway Technical and Vocational College is one of the earliest railway vocational colleges in China, mainly training senior application-oriented professionals for domestic and foreign railway and urban rail enterprises. The college insists on working along both academic education and vocational training. It was once recognized as “The National Advanced Institution of Vocational Education” and “The representative of Chinese workers' education” by UNESCO.
Since its founding, the college has always been committed to training practical professionals for Chinese railway, and has trained more than 100,000 outstanding graduates, including Wang Mengshu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Li Dongxiao, “the first person” to drive China's high-speed railway, and many other outstanding figures.
The college now offers 29 majors, forming a professional group covering all positions in the rail transit transportation field. It has advanced training bases at home and abroad, more than 8,400 full-time students, and has completed more than 18,000 times staff training and professional qualification and skill appraisal annually.

The college is rich in functions, mainly including national high-skilled professional training base, railway locomotive driver training and testing base of China Railway Corporation, high-speed railway technology training base of China Railway Corporation, staff training base for Beijing bureau of China Railway Group, staff training base of China Railway Sixth Bureau Group, vice president institution of China Communications Industry Association Rail Transit Production and Education Alliance, doctor (master) of technical and vocational education training base of Tianjin University, international education cooperation institution of Beijing Jiaotong University, learning center in Tianjin of School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education Southwest Jiaotong University.

Since 2001, the College has trained more than 870 full-time students from Tanzania, Zambia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Thailand, North Korea and other countries. Now, the graduates have become the professionals of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway, Tazara Railway and Addis Ababa Light Rail. The College has trained 44 drivers for Mecca Saudi Arabia Light Rail and has trained 64 railway teachers from Thailand, Djibouti, Nigeria and other countries.
For the sake of the construction, operation and maintenance of China-Thailand Railway, the Tianjin Railway Technical and Vocational College Center of Luban Workshop in Thailand was set up in July 2018. As the first Chinese overseas training center concerning high-speed railway technology, it earned the King Award, the highest award of the Thai royal family, and was selected into the "Special Cooperation Program of China-ASEAN Higher Vocational Colleges". In order to implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s speech at the Beijing Summit of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and to serve the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway and the economic development of Djibouti Port, our college established with high quality the first Luban workshop in Africa in March 2019; that is, the Djibouti Luban workshop. It is one of the earliest landmark achievements in the implementation of the Eight Major Actions of China-Africa cooperation, and has been regarded as a model in China-Africa cooperation on vocational education. For the promotion of international production capacity cooperation and to serve the Nigeria’s 2014-2043 railway modernization plan, our college has cooperated with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), a “Go Global” Chinese company, to jointly build Nigeria Luban Workshop, which has been launched at the end of 2020. It has reached a new height in rail transit academic education and skill training in Africa, and has blazed a new trail of international school-enterprise cooperation.

Our college has all the time been committed to serving the Belt and Road Initiative and has persistently opened up new domains of cooperation. We are willing to work with all parties to advance the construction of Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, carry out the exchanges and cooperation on vocational education, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
