Introduction to Jining University
Jining University is a full-time undergraduate university of  Shandong Province. It is located in Qufu --- a famous historical and cultural city in the world, the cradle  of Confucian culture, and the hometown of Confucius. Jining university was established in 1951, formerly known as Jining Teachers’ College. In March 2007, it was upgraded to Jining University with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
In the past 70 years, Jining university, taking root in the hometown of Confucius and Mencius and adhering to the school motto of being “rich in knowledge, tenacious of purpose, kind in personality, conscientious in action” has cultivated more than 100000 talented young people, and made great contributions to  the regional economic and social development.
The campus covers an area of 290 acres, with a construction area of 616400 square meters. There are more than 20000 full-time students  and 1200 faculty members.
The univeristy has 18 subordinate schools with 50 undergraduate majors and 23 junior college majors, covering 9 disciplines including economics, law, education, humanities, history, science, engineering, management and art. The library has a collection of 1.93 million paper books, more than 1,200 kinds of Chinese and foreign language periodicals, more than 1.03 million electronic books, 2.05 million electronic journals, and 41 electronic resource databases. The school takes the lead in building the "smart campus" in China. It has built 129 "smart classrooms", which can meet the needs of 12,000 people at the same time.
The University always adheres to the concept of "quality first", insists on the central position of teaching, strengthens teaching management and improves teaching quality. At present , the university has 8 provincial special majors, 6 provincial first-class majors, 2 experimental majors of the provincial outstanding talent training plan, 2 provincial application-oriented talents Training Support programs and 3 provincial high-level application-oriented project construction programs. In the past five years, it has won a number of provincial teaching reform research projects and provincial higher education excellent teaching achievement awards.
Adhering to the concept of strengthening the university with scientific research, the university focuses on the major strategic needs of the country and the region, concentrates on the advantages of disciplines and highlights the characteristics of scientific research. In the past five years, more than 100 national and provincial research projects have been approved, and nearly 900 research papers have been published, including more than 500 papers in core journals and more than 300 papers indexed by SCI, EI and SSCI. The university has made great efforts to strengthen the construction of discipline platforms, including 2 provincial key disciplines, 2 provincial key university laboratories, 2 provincial scientific research and innovation platforms during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, 1 provincial demonstration engineering technology research center, 5 Jining Engineering technology research centers, and 1 Jining key laboratory.
The university always adhere to the open education, and actively follows the national development strategy of "One Belt and One Road". It has carried out various cooperation and exchanges with more than 40 universities and research institutes from abroad in terms of teacher exchange, credit recognition and overseas student training. The international level of the school has been steadily improved.
