Founded in 1953, Hebei GEO University (HGU), was one of the 5 universities affiliated to the former Ministry of Geology and is now jointly supported by the Ministry of Land and Resources and the People’s Government of Hebei Province. It is a provincial key university. Li Tingdong, member of Chinese Academy, is the honorary president of HGU.
As the first educational institute affiliated to the Ministry of Geology in New China setting up programs of Economics and Management, HGU is dedicated to the core mission- providing personnel and technical support for the sustainable development of resources and environment. Adhering to the motto of global vision, broad mindeness, wide knowledge and the tradition of being hard-working, realistic and innovative, after about 70 years of development, HGU has gradually formed the characteristics of "resources and environment +", multi-disciplinary, collaborative development and deep cross-integration. Now, there are about 18000 full-time students on campus.
HGU has 12 first-level disciplines of master degree and 65 bachelor degree programs, covering the disciplines of Sciences, Engineering, Management, Economics, Law, Liberal Arts and Arts. Among these programs, there are 6 construction points of national first-class undergraduate program, 4 national characteristic programs, 4 national or provincial pilot comprehensive reform programs, 15 construction points of provincial first-class undergraduate program, 4 undergraduate education innovative highlands of Hebei Province, 8 characteristic programs of Hebei Province. 2 programs have been issued with the title of national first-class undergraduate programs and 24 with that of provincial first-class undergraduate programs.
HGU, possessing a Geo-Science Museum and a Monetary & Financial Museum, is the only university in Hebei Province with two museums. The Geo-Science Museum is a popular science education base and quality education base at national, provincial, and municipal level.
HGU has been dedicated to wide international exchange and cooperation and so far established long-term partnership with more than 300 world prestigious universities and research institutes on students exchange, recognition of credits, double degree education, scientific research cooperation, etc.

There are 2 beds in each room of International Students’ Apartments. The accommodation fee for each student is 2400 RMB/ year.
All rooms have a bathroom and a washing machine inside. There is a kitchen and a entertainment area on each floor.
Qualification:
1. All applicants must be in good health, aged between 18 and 35, with no criminal record.
2. For bachelor degree applicants, they should have high school diploma; for programs taught in Chinese, they should have passed HSK4 or relevant Chinese test organized by the university.
3. For master degree applicants, they should obtained a bachelor’s degree; for programs taught in Chinese, they should have passed HSK 5 or relevant Chinese test organized by the university.

1. Hebei GEO University Application Form for International Students (see attachment 2);
2. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (see attachment 3);
3. Notarized highest degree certificate. For applicants who are still students, a studying certificate provided by the school is needed. For texts other than Chinese and English, a notarized Chinese or English translation is needed;
4. Transcript. For texts other than Chinese and English, a notarized Chinese or English translation is needed;
5. Passport copy;
6. Resume;
7. Certificate of no criminal record;
8. HSK certificate copy (Chinese taught programs only);
9. A proof of funds or a financial guarantee of no less than CNY 30,000/year;
10. For applicants of postgraduate programs, please also provide the following materials:
-Research proposal (over 800 words in Chinese or English)
-Two reference letters written by two professors or associate professors, respectively (in Chinese or English)
11. Other materials demanded by the university in accordance with specific conditions.
