SHOU offers International Student Apartments with over 300 beds available on campus. A public common area including a study lounge, activity room, as well as kitchens and laundry rooms are located on the first floor. All rooms are equipped with an air conditioner, bed, desk, wardrobe, internet/telephone outlets, and other basic necessities.

Applicant Eligibility:
(1) Applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen in good health.
(2) Age and education background:
Applicant applying for bachelor degree programs, should obtain a high school degree or above and be no more than 25 years old; for master degree programs, applicant should have a bachelor degree or above and be no more than 35 years old; for PhD programs, applicant should have a master's degree or above with academic research ability, and be no more than 40 years old. Applicant applying for the pre-college program should obtain a high school degree under the age of 23 years old.
(3) Outstanding in academic performance.

Step 2: Pay application fee of RMB 400 online.The application is not complete until you pay the application fee and submit all the required application documents.

4. Degree certificate and transcripts of previous education
High School Diploma and transcripts for applying undergraduate programs.
*Graduating students should provide a certificate of impending graduation Bachelor Degree Certificate and Transcripts for applying postgraduate programs.
? Copies of the original certificate with the school's official stamp and/or the signature of the principal. If the originals are not in Chinese or English, they must be translated and notarized by authorized educational institute.
• For applicants who haven't graduated, impending receipt of graduation certificate, copies of all transcripts available at the time of application are acceptable. However, official graduation certificate and transcripts of all grades must be submitted promptly after being received.
*Original copies must be provided on registration day.
5. Language Proficiency Certificate
If applying for Chinese-taught programs, please provide HSK Certificate received within the last 2 years:
• Undergraduate program requirements: HSK 4 with a score above 180
? Postgraduate program requirements: HSK 5 with a score above 180
If you are applying for English-taught programs, please provide Certificate of IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL IBT 80 or above, received within the last two years. Students submitting any other English proficiency certificate may be asked to provide supplementary materials. Applicants whose native language is English do not need to provide these documents.
*If applied for International Bachelor Degree program or AIEN institute program, you don't need to provide any language certificate.
*If applied for Chinese preparatory courses along with Bachelor Degree program, you need provide HSK Level 3 Certificate.
* If applied for Chinese preparatory courses along with Master Degree program or Doctor Degree program, you need provide HSK Level 4 Certificate.
6. Personal Statement
An essay statement written in English or Chinese on one page of A4 size paper. Introduce why you are applying, describe your interest and enthusiasm for your chosen major, and how your previous studies or experiences relate to it. Describe what makes you suitable, such as relevant skills, experience, or achievements gained from previous education, work, and other activities.

Written in English or Chinese, including your personal information, educational background, work or intern experience, achievements so far and other information that might be useful.
11. Research Proposal:
Written in English or Chinese, including research achievements thus far (e.g. title and abstracts of graduation thesis or published paper), reasons for choosing SHOU, study objectives while attending SHOU, future research plans, etc.
12. Two Recommendation Letters:
Written in English or Chinese by 2 different professors or associate professors from previous academic institutions. Can also include work supervisors, etc.
13. Supervision Confirmation Letter from Professors of Shanghai Ocean University.(optional)
If there is some specific professor of SHOU agreed to accept and mentor you during future study, please fill in the Supervision Confirmation Letter Form at our website.
SCHOLARSHIPS
As one of China’s leading universities and a member of the national level “Double First-Class” initiative, SHOU regularly accepts international students who have been awarded a Chinese Government Scholarship (referred to as CSC) as well as the Shanghai Government Scholarship (referred to as SGS). Also, to attract exceptional international students, SHOU provides its own “University President’s Scholarship” to those students willing to pursue degree programs.
CSC- Chinese Government Scholarship
China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC), entrusted by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, is responsible for the enrollment and the administration of Chinese Government Scholarship programs.
CSC has two categories of Scholarship.
(1) CSC Bilateral Programs Scholarship:
In this category, CSC has Bilateral Program, GREAT-WALL Program, EU Program, AUN Program and PIF Program scholarship. If you would like to apply one of these scholarships, please visit https://www.campuschina.org/ for more information and directly apply to the designated institutions.
(2) CSC Chinese University Program Scholarship:

SGS - Shanghai Government Scholarship
For the purpose of constructing the science and technology innovation center with global influence, promoting the international cooperation and communication, and attracting more outstanding prospective international students to study in Shanghai, Shanghai Municipal People's Government has set up "Shanghai Government Scholarship for International Students" (hereinafter referred to SGS) since 2006. It is established to fund distinctive prospective international students to study in higher educational institutions in Shanghai.
All the majors (except AIEN Institute) are applicable for SGS scholarship.
