ZUT is located in Zhengzhou which is the capital of Henan Province of the People's Republic of China. Henan Province is a critical birthplace of the Chinese nation and Chinese civilization. Yellow Emperor, the cultural ancestor of the Chinese nation, was born in Xinzheng, Henan Province. The origin of Chinese civilization, the invention of Chinese characters, the formation of cities and the building of a unified country are all closely related to Henan Province. In the 5000-year history of Chinese civilization, Henan has been the country's political, economic and cultural center for more than 3,000 years. There are four of the Eight Great Ancient Capitals of China in Henan, and Four Great Inventions of Ancient China originates from Henan. Zhengzhou is one of China's nine major central cities and has the advantageous location. It is a comprehensive transportation hub of China's roads, railways, aviation and information and communication, and plays an important and supporting role in the Silk Road Economic Belt. "Yellow River Scenery, Shaolin Kung Fu and Railway Heart" are all remarkable name cards of Zhengzhou.

With a total area of 107.33 hectares, ZUT is a high-level and characteristic backbone multidisciplinary university covering the disciplines of engineering, management, literature, science, economics, law and art. ZUT’s internationality ranks third among universities of Henan Province. ZUT has the complete learning and living facilities and a charming environment, with 1,380 full-time teachers, of which, 648 have senior professional titles, 579 hold doctoral degrees, and more than 24,000 students. The school focuses on international school-running and has successively signed intercollegiate exchange agreements with more than 50 world-class universities in more than 30 countries and regions such as the United States, Britain, Russia, Australia, etc., in order to greatly carry out teacher-student exchange and scientific research cooperation: it has carried out Sino-foreign cooperation school-running programs such as textile engineering with the University of Manchester, one of the world's top 100 universities; established a non-independent legal entity jointly rub by ZUT and Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation --Zhongyuan- Petersburg Aviation College which has been approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China; conducted the joint doctoral training programs with Brunel University in England and Sao Paulo University in Brazil respectively; and established an overseas branch—Xuanyuan College of ZUT in Krirk University, Bangkok Thailand.
 

The university has established a perfect scholarship system so as to attract outstanding undergraduates from Russia, Ukraine, South Korea, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt and other countries to study for master's degree.
