Jinhua Polytechnic - A National Model of Higher Vocational College

Jinhua Polytechnic has inherited the vocational education traditions of six key national and provincial level secondary schools, with more than 100 years’ history in vocational education. It is currently the National Demonstration Higher Vocational College, and in “Top 50” national vocational college rankings for Service Contribution, International Influence, Teaching Resources, Educational Effectiveness, Internship Management, Teaching Management, and Student Management. In 2019, it was selected as the National “Double High-levels” Plan A-tier High-Level School Construction Unit.
Jinhua Polytechnic is closely connected with the eight trillion-yuan industries in Zhejiang Province and the five 100-billion-yuan industries in Jinhua. It reconstructs 10 major groups (including 58 majors) that effectively connect with the information and internet economy, advanced equipment manufacturing, health and biomedicine, modern agriculture, culture, education, and health. Among them, there are 2 national high-level major groups, 3 key demonstration majors with national support, 2 four-year higher vocational pilot majors, 1 undergraduate major, and 4 joint top-up majors. Jinhua Polytechnic has more than 20,000 full-time students and over 1,600 faculty members.
Jinhua Polytechnic has been making great efforts to expand cooperation and communication with overseas organizations and it is the member of World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP). It has been ranked first in the overall internationalization level of Zhejiang vocational colleges for three consecutive years.  It has established long-term cooperative relationships with overseas universities and educational institutes from more than 39 countries and areas, such as New Zealand, USA and Rwanda, and the inter-school exchange programs cover teachers’ training, scientific research collaboration, student exchanges, Sino-foreign joint programs and so on. Jinhua Polytechnic has trained over 1,000 international students from over 80 countries and regions. In May 2015, Jinhua Polytechnic Wintec International College was jointly established by Jinhua Polytechnic and Waikato Institute of Technology, New Zealand. In July, 2017, the joint program established by Jinhua Polytechnic and Rwanda Polytechnic IPRC Musanze started in Rwanda, and has carried out vocational skills training in urgently needed fields such as electronic information and food processing. In May2021, the co-developed criteria of Electrical Automation Technology and E-commerce by Rwanda Polytechnic and Jinhua Polytechnic have been successfully incorporated into Rwanda Educational Qualification Framework. ln November, 2021, the joint program was elected into the "the Future of Africa-China & Africa Vocational Education Partnership". ln August, 2022,Rwanda Luban Workshop was established by Rwanda Polytechnic and Jinhua Polytechnic in PRC Musanze. Jinhua Polytechnic has also earned the titles of "National Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills", “Zhejiang Silk Road College alongside the One Belt and Road Initiative”, “Zhejiang Provincial Cultivation Base for Standard  lnternationalization” and "Tiny and Pretty Overseas Project of Zhejiang”.
Under the guidance of the new era school spirit of "fighting for the first and daring to create the only", Jinhua Polytechnic, full of vigor and vitality, will continue to adhere to the development orientation of regional service-oriented higher vocational colleges, complete the national "double high" construction with high quality, create bachelor level vocational schools with high standards, and serve the national development strategy with high level. We will Strive to provide strong support for the demonstration construction of common prosperity at the provincial and municipal levels, and contribute to the modernization of Chinese-style vocational education.
