In January 2020, China’s Ministry of Education, approved our upgrading from Zhejiang University Ningbo Institute of Technology (ZJUNIT), an affiliated institute of Zhejiang University, into NingboTech University (NingboTech), an independent public undergraduate-level university under the lead and administration of Zhejiang provincial government. Prof. Dr. YANG Deren, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of Zhejiang University, is appointed first President of NingboTech, a strong signal that Zhejiang University remains committed to NingboTech’s development as it has been doing in the past nineteen years of 2001 – 2019.
NingboTech is in pursuit of training “high-quality and innovative talents with all-round development, humanistic spirits and scientific literacy” and has set up a comprehensive education system with undergraduate education as the central focus, supplemented with postgraduate education, adult education and continuing education. NingboTech currently offers 41 subjects registered in China’s Ministry of Education and annually enrolls over 11, 000 students from 15 provinces and municipalities in China.
