Sponsored by Kunming Municipal People’s Government and directed by Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, Kunming Railway Vocational and Technical College is the only public higher vocational college which specialized in training technicians who skill in railway and urban rail transportation industry in Yunnan Province. College started with the name of Kunming Railway Machinery School, since 1958. In the past 60 years, a large number of skilled personnel have been sent to railway and urban rail transit system in Yunnan and the rest of China.
In the past 60 more years, the college has cultivated more than 40 thousand graduates for railway, urban rail transit and railway equipment manufacturing enterprises. In the past few years, students have won more than 200 awards at the municipal level or above. The quality of personnel training and the employment rate of professional counterparts are literally high. The employment units are mainly state-owned enterprises and large and medium-sized state-owned enterprises in rail transit industry such as railway and subway, which are deeply trusted by the majority of parents and society. The smooth export drives the prosperous import, the quality of enrollment is good, and the enrollment scale is growing steadily year by year.
The college adheres to the concept of "going out" to run a school abroad, and the foreign aid training is effective. College has sent teachers to Mombasa Nairobi railway in Kenya and Addis Ababa Djibouti railway in Ethiopia to carry out foreign aid training for African locomotive vice drivers and locomotive maintenance workers for several times, and been reported by CCTV, China Daily and Africa Weekly. Kunming Municipal Educational Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Center has built in College, it gave the college a new position and mission. Prime Minister of Laos, Thonlun Sisuri and his retinues visited KRVTC on January 9th, 2020, he put forward his hope and request to KRVTC on the project of the personnel development of Sino-Lao railway. The first batch of International Student has enrolled in College in 2020.
In the past few years, KRVTC successively sponsored or co-sponsored different types of cooperation forum and international meeting for several times, which hosted by Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, Yunnan Provincial Department of Commerce, and Kunming Municipal people’s Government, the topic of rail transit personnel training has been fully discussed aomong the leaders and scholars in vocational education filed from South and Southeast Asia.

1. 与泰国的教育交流情况 Cooperation with Thailand
2019年3月22日，泰国是威差亚皇家理工大学校学术副校长苏瓦特先生一行7人到校交流访问，双方就铁道专业学术和研究方面的双边合作、交换交流机会、双学位项目合作、校企合作支持的可能性交换了意见，并达成了初步合作意向；
March 22th, 2019, Dr. Suwat Tanyaros, vice president of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) come the visit KRVTC with a delegation of 7 people. The two sides speak highly on the bilateral collaboration on academic and research, Staffs exchange, Student exchange and dual program development, the two sides exchanged views and reached some consensus.
2019年6月11日，协办由云南省人民政府主办、云南省教育厅承办“第2届云南—南亚东南亚教育合作论坛”并举办昆明“云南—南亚东南亚轨道交通人才培养交流合作分论坛”。邀请包括泰国等国外教育官员、高等学校领导和学者，与中国国内高校领导和学者，企业领导和代表等100多位国内外嘉宾参加了论坛。就云南—南亚东南亚轨道交通人才培养教育合作展开了有效对话，受到与会嘉宾的高度赞扬和积极评价。
June 11th, 2019, KRVTC cosponsored “The 2nd Yunnan-Southeast Education Exchange and Cooperation Forum”, and hosted “Yunnan-South & Southeast Asia Rail-Transit Personnel Training Exchanges and Cooperation Sub-forum” over 100 distinguished guests came to join the great gathering including educational experts and scholars from Thailand. June 10th to June 19th. 2019, KRVTC undertook the “Southeast Asia Railway Technician Development International Cooperative Technical Officials Training”, and offered a training experience of Chinese railway for 15 officers / educators from Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos.
2019年9月8日至12日，学院委派乔吉祥副院长一行6人对泰国是威差亚皇家理工大学、兰实大学进行实地考察、调研和会谈。双方就开展教师、学生短期互访、交流学习等合作项目进行了深入交流为后续双方合作奠定了基础。

On December 3rd, 2019, KRVTC undertook “The 4th Kunming International Sister-City Seminar Yunnan-South & Southeast Asia Vocational Education Sub-seminar”, guests from Thailand, Myanmar and Laos came to join the great gathering and built a education exchange and cooperation conversation platform.
2.与老挝合作交流情况 Cooperation with Laos
2020年1月9日，老挝总理通伦•西苏里一行在访华期间，在云南省副省长张国华，中国驻老挝大使姜再冬等陪同下，专程莅临学院考察调研。访问期间，通伦总理对学院的办学、人才培养和对老挝铁路人才培养所做的工作给予了高度评价和肯定。通伦总理就中老铁路开通的铁路技术技能人才培养对学院提出了要求和希望，并明确提出要求，希望学院发挥培养铁路人才的优势为即将开通的老中铁路培养铁路人才。2020年，学院首次招收老挝籍留学生。
Prime Minister of Laos, Thonlun Sisuri and his retinues, accompanied by vice governor of Yunnan Province Zhang Guohua and Chinese ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong, visited KRVTC on January 9th, 2020. During the visit, Prime Minister Thonlun gave highly complementary remarks to KRVTC on school-running, education, and the contribution to Laos railway personal development.. He put forward his hope and request to KRVTC, he wants KRVTC make full use of its advantages on the personnel development for Sino-Lao railway. The first batch of International Student from Lao has enrolled in College in 2020.
