Chinese Government Scholarship

Chinese Government Scholarship Program is established by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between the Chinese government and the governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars. MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of Chinese Government Scholarship program. There are only one wayfor you to apply for China Scholarship Council (CSC) Scholarship. A student may apply directly through Liaoning Shihua University.

Ⅰ. To apply through Liaoning Shihua University directly

Coverage: All master programs

Deadline: March 30th

Application Procedure:

1. To register and finish the online application at the CSC online Application system (http://laihua.csc.edu.cn);

2. To post all notarized hard copies to us (Applying for CSC scholarship only), including

A. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship （written in Chinese or English）;

B. Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.;

C. Academic transcripts （written in Chinese or English）; Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;

D. A Study Plan or Research Proposal （written in Chinese or English）This should be a minimum of 800 words;

E. Two Recommendation Letters （written in Chinese or English）; Applicants must submit two recommendation letters signed by a professor or an associate professor.

F. Foreigner Physical Examination Form （photocopy）（written in English, can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org）;

The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

G. The copy of valid HSK Certificate （if available）

All documents should be bound together on top left corner in the order of A to G. （You should submit TWO sets of bound documents）. No application documents will be returned.

Ⅱ. Important Information

1. Please follow the procedure step by step. Don’t post paper documents until you have been admitted by the university.

2. Please post the documents through EMS, DHL, SF (Shunfeng), Post Office only. Using other express companies like Yuantong, Shentong, Zhongtong, Yunda, Tiantian etc. may lead to an unsuccessful arrival.

3. Chinese Government Scholarship is open to new students only, and the agency number of Liaoning Shihua University is 10148.

4. Once you have been chosen as a CSC candidate at the beginning of May, the new admission offer of scholarship will be made. Visa application documents will post to the scholarship candidates in June or July.

LNPU Scholarships and Awards

In order to further develop the education of international students, the university sets several different scholarships and awards to excellent self-sponsored international students who have the best academic performance or daily activity performance. The scholarships and awards are categorized as follows:
Academic scholarship:

1. First Prize: The prize is available to 2 students of every grade.

2. Second Prize: The prize is available to 3 students of every grade.

3. Third Prize: The prize is available to 3 students of every grade.

4. Fourth Prize: The prize is available to 2 students of every grade

Besides, the Liaoning Shihua University Awards include:

1. Excellent Students’ Executives: The prize is available to 10 students in total.

2. Excellent Extra-curricular Activities Participant: The prize is available to 10 students in total.

3. Full Attendance Award: Awarding to the students who have full attendance of all the courses in the last one year.

Note: The scholarships and awards may be awarded concurrently
2 Criterion for scholarships and awards
In order to qualify for a scholarship or award a student must fulfill the following conditions:
the applicant :

1. Must apply for scholarship/awards to the Students’ Affairs Office (Room 217) at the first week of every academic year.

2. Must be a self-sponsored student, who is registered as an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program. Only the students from second year, third year and fourth year are available to apply scholarships and awards.

3. Must have a clean record without any pending misconduct or rule violation case against him/her. If any scholarship or award winner violates the rules or regulations of Liaoning Shihua University during the next academic year, he or she needs to refund the prize.

4. The First Prize Scholarship applicants shall have an average of 85% marks with not less than 80% marks in each course in previous years.

5. The Second Prize Scholarship applicants shall have an average of 80% marks with not less than 75% marks in each course in previous years.

6. The Third Prize Scholarship applicants shall have an average of 75% marks with not less than 70% marks in each course in previous years.

7. The Fourth Prize Scholarship applicants shall have a minimum of 70% marks in each course in previous years.

8. An applicant for other awards shall have an average of 70% marks in previous years.

3 Evaluation Procedures
The university establishes an International Students’ Scholarship Appraisal Committee to evaluate applications for scholarships/awards. The committee is composed of related program leadership and management staff of International Education College. Criterion values for First, Second, Third and Fourth Prize Scholarship evaluation are set as below:

1. Academic record:90%

2. Conduct and Daily performance:10%

3. While academic records and daily performance being equal, the candidates who have got any academic certificates, extra-curriculum activity certificates, or the experience about being excellent student association executives will be given priority to be considered.

Initial appraisal shall be done by the Students’ Affairs Office based on relevant class tutor and lectures. The office submits its recommendations to the committee. The Students’ Affairs Office is responsible for advising about outcome of the applications to the students. An applicant must be provided with details of evaluation outcome about his/her application by the Students’ Affairs Office, if requested by the applicant. The applicant could appeal to the dean of International Education College if he/she is not satisfied with the outcome, within 10 working days from the date he/she receives the outcome details.
