       山西农业大学（山西省农业科学院）是我国著名高等农业学府，教育部本科教学评估优秀高校，山西省政府与农业农村部共建高校，全国首批深化创新创业教育改革示范高校，国家中西部基础能力建设入选高校。

       Shanxi Agricultural University (Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences) is a famous higher agricultural university in China. It is one of the outstanding universities in undergraduate teaching evaluation by the Ministry of Education. It was jointly built by the Government of Shanxi Province and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. It is also one of the first batches of demonstrative universities in deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in China and has been selected by the National Basic capacity construction in the central and western regions.

承续百年薪火，发展再创新篇。

       山西农业大学始建于1907年孔祥熙创办的私立铭贤学堂，后发展为私立铭贤农工专科学校、私立铭贤学院；1951年改私立为公办，成立山西农学院；1979年更名为山西农业大学，成为改革开放初全国99所重点大学之一。2019年10月，省委省政府着眼山西省高等教育和农业科研改革发展大局，决定山西农业大学和山西省农业科学院合署改革，成立新的山西农业大学。合署改革以来，学校推行“院办校”“大部制”等一揽子重大改革措施，整合资源、优化布局，迈开了改革发展的新步伐。

       Shanxi Agricultural University was founded in the private Mingxian School founded by Kong Xiangxi in 1907. In 1951, Shanxi Agricultural College was set up to be a public institution instead of a private one. In 1979, it was renamed Shanxi Agricultural University and became one of the 99 key universities in China at the beginning of the reform and opening up. In October 2019, because of the overall reform and development of higher education and agricultural scientific research in Shanxi Province, the Provincial Party Committee and the government decided to reform Shanxi Agricultural University and Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences to establish a new Shanxi Agricultural University. 

       Since the central government offices' reform, the university has implemented a package of significant reform measures, integrated resources, optimized distribution, and embarked on a new reform and development pace.

学科门类齐全，特色优势鲜明。

        学校（院）现有太谷校区和太原龙城校区两个校区以及遍布全省各地的研究机构，其中，教学单位22个，直属科研院所（中心）19个。现有8个博士后科研流动站，9个博士学位授权一级学科，1个博士专业学位授权类别；14个硕士学位授权一级学科，7个硕士专业学位授权类别。学科专业涵盖了农学、理学、工学、经济学、管理学、文学、法学、艺术学等8个门类，拥有本科专业68个。初步构建了以农科为核心，向上游生物学科和下游食品学科双向延伸,其他相关学科为支撑的学科体系。现有动物遗传育种与繁殖1个国家重点（培育）学科，农业工程、作物学、园艺学、农业资源与环境、植物保护、畜牧学、兽医学、林学、草学等9个省级重点学科。

       The university has two campuses, Taigu Campus and Taiyuan Longcheng Campus, and research institutes all over the province, among which there are 22 teaching units and 19 research institutes (centers) directly under the university. There are eight post-doctoral research stations, nine first-level disciplines authorized for the doctoral degree, and one category authorized for a professional doctoral degree. There are 14 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degree and seven professional master's degree authorization categories. The disciplines and majors cover eight categories: agronomy, science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and art, with 68 undergraduate majors. The discipline system with agriculture as the core, bidirectional extension to the upstream biology discipline and the downstream food discipline, and other related disciplines as the support has been preliminarily established. At present, there is one national key discipline of animal genetics, breeding and reproduction, and nine provincial key disciplines, including agricultural engineering, crop science, horticulture, agricultural resources and environment, plant protection, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, forestry, and grass science.

专家名师荟萃，师资力量雄厚。

       学校（院）坚持实施“人才优先、人才强校”战略，为改革发展事业提供了强有力的人才支撑。现有教师、科研人员及职工4381人，其中正高级专业技术人员438人，副高级专业技术人员1033人，博士生导师110人，硕士生导师753人。

       The university adheres to the strategy of "giving priority to talents and strengthening the university with talents"， supporting reform and development. There are 4381 teachers, researchers, and staff members, including 438 senior professional and technical staff, 1033 deputy senior professional and technical staff, 110 doctoral supervisors, 753 master supervisors.

坚持立德树人，各类英才辈出。

       学校（院）现有在校生2.5万余人。其中，本科生22813人，硕士和博士研究生2426人。建校以来，先后培养了15万余名各类人才，遍布大江南北，各行各业，为山西乃至全国经济社会发展作出了重要贡献。学校（院）积极推进对外合作交流，与美国欧柏林大学有长达百余年的合作历史，与新西兰梅西大学、奥克兰理工大学和美国博伊西州立大学等10余所大学开展交换生项目，先后有来自伊朗、印度及巴基斯坦等国家的学生来校求学。

       The university (college) currently has more than 25,000 students. Among them, there are 22,813 undergraduate students and 2,426 master and doctoral students. Since its establishment, the university has cultivated more than 150,000 talents of all kinds, covering all walks of life and making significant contributions to Shanxi's economic and social development and even the whole country. The university (college) actively promotes foreign cooperation and exchange. Our university has a history of cooperation with Oberlin University in the United States for over 100 years. It has carried out student exchange programs with more than ten universities, including MasseUniversity in New Zealand, Auckland University of Technology, and Boise State University in the US. Students from Iran, India, and Pakistan have come to study at the university.

科技示范引领，服务农谷建设。

       学校牢固树立“创新为上”的发展理念，打造一流创新生态，提升科技创新能力。山西“农谷”战略实施以来，学校（院）发挥自身学科优势、人才优势、科研优势，组建完成“三院五中心”等科研平台，汇聚一批功能农业（食品）领域的高端人才，聚焦有机旱作农业、功能农业（食品）等领域的重大科研项目，形成了一批标志性、创新性科研成果。2019年晋中国家农高区获批建设，学校（院）进一步整合院所资源，创新融合机制，积极服务晋中国家农高区（山西农谷）成为国内一流的现代农业创新高地、产业高地、开放高地、人才高地和农村改革先行区。

        The university firmly establishes the development concept of "innovation for the top", creates a first-class innovation ecology, and improves its scientific and technological innovation ability. Since the implementation of Shanxi Agriculture Valley strategy, the university (college) has made full use of their advantages in disciplines, talents, and scientific research,where set up and completed scientific research platforms, and gathered several top talents in the field of functional agriculture (food). Focusing on major scientific research projects in dry organic farming and functional agriculture (food), some landmarks and innovative scientific research achievements have formed. In 2019, Jinzhong National Agricultural High Area (Shanxi Agriculture Valley) was approved for construction. The university (college) further integrated institutes' resources, innovated the integration mechanism, and actively served Jinzhong National Agricultural High Area to become a first-class modern agricultural innovation highland, industry highland, opening highland, talent highland, and rural reform pilot area in China.

       办学条件优良，读书修学圣地。学校校园面积3515亩，建筑面积125.35万平方米，固定资产总值32.82亿元，其中教学科研设备总值9.98亿元，有纸质藏书185万余册，纸质期刊1360余种，电子图书329.3万册。学校是全国绿化模范单位。太谷校区校园内“山西铭贤学校旧址”是全国重点文物保护单位，完整保存了清代至民国时期的建筑群，是山西省近代教育史、农业发展史、中西文化教育交流史的鲜活史料。

       The campus covers an area of 3,515 mu with a construction area of 1,253,500 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 3,282 million yuan, including 998 million yuan of teaching and research equipment. The university has a collection of more than 1.85 million books on paper, over 1,360 kinds of periodicals on paper, and 3.293 million copies of electronic books. The university is a national model unit for greening. The "old site of Shanxi Mingxian School" in Taigu Campus is one of the national key cultural relics protection units. It has wholly preserved the architectural complex from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. It is the fresh historical materials of Shanxi's modern education history, agricultural development history, and the history of exchanges between Chinese and Western culture and education.
