SUST Profile
The history of Suzhou University of Science and Technology (SUST) dates back to the 1950s. In the early 1980s, the state ministries of China established two institutions of high education to offer undergraduate programs in Suzhou. SUST was established in September of 2001, by merging the former Suzhou Institute of Urban Construction and Environmental Protection and the former Suzhou Railway Teachers College. It is managed jointly by the central and local governments, primarily by Jiangsu Province.
SUST is located in the western part of the city - Suzhou National Hi-Tech District. The university consists of three campuses, Shihu campus、Jiangfeng campus and Tianping campus, occupying a total area of 2500 ha.. SUST has organized its academic programs into 19 schools offering 61undergraduate programs and 24 postgraduate programs, covering 10 disciplines including engineering, natural physical science, liberal arts and humanities, business, social sciences and others. There are currently nearly 1800 faculty and staff, including nearly 700 professors and about 400 associate professors. There are over 25,000 full-time undergraduate students and over 2000 postgraduate students on campus.
SUST is one of the key universities in Jiangsu Province. It is consistently improving the quality of education by continuously modifying training modes, teaching contents and curriculum systems, as well as by improving and standardizing academic management. The university pays great attention to raising comprehensive abilities of the students' to learn, to think, to practice and to be creative. It has more than 90,000 alumni who are now in different professional areas all over China and abroad. Many alumni have become elite leaders in different social and economic sectors, including two academicians in CAS and CAE respectively. SUST has also made substantial achievements in the field of scientific research, technological innovation and community service.
SUST takes educational internationalization as one of its important development strategies and has established inter-school cooperation relationship with many foreign universities and colleges. As one of the universities providing China Aid training and education programs entrusted by Ministry of Commerce, SUST regularly undertakes the training courses, seminars and degree education programs for the participants from developing counties for many years.
Application Documents
1、Application Form for International Students to SUST completed in Chinese or English;
2、Original notarized photocopy of the highest degree proof, including both graduation certificate and degree certificate;
3、Academic Transcripts. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;
4、Recommendation letters. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from former college by professors or associate professors;
5、A scanned copy of passport;
6、Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in recent one month. The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid;
7、Photocopy of Language Certificate(students from non-English speaking countries only);
8、HSK (the Chinese Proficiency Test) Certificate (if available);
9、A study or research plan. All applicants are required to submit a study or research plan. It must be in Chinese or in English and no less than 800 words.
E. Date of Application and Enrollment
Enrollment starts on 31th, May every year. SUST will select and recruit the best applicants before 30th, June and deliver Admission Notice to those who have been admitted.

Expenses
1、 Registration fee: RMB400 per person;
2、 Tuition fee: 24000 RMB/Person/Year;
3、 Accommodation fee: 9000 RMB/Person/Year;
4、 Insurance fee: 800 RMB/Person/Year.
5、 Residence Permit Fee: 800 RMB/Person/Year.
Scholarships
The following scholarship is available for Applicants to the Master’s Programs in SUST:
Suzhou University of Science and Technology Scholarship for International Master’s Students
The scholarship is divided into A and B categories:
1、 A category scholarship covers tuition fee、accommodation fee 、living subsidy (1000RMB/Person/Month with 10 month in total for each academic year) and settlement allowance (1000 RMB/Person)
2、B category scholarship covers tuition fee and accommodation fee
