Established in 1984, Chongqing  College of Architecture and Technology is an institution of higher education authorized by People's Government of Chongqing. As one of key colleges in Chongqing, CCAT is registered in the Ministry of Education and administered by Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. 

Located in university town, CCAT covers an area of 149 acres. There are around 8,000 full-time students and more than 500 teachers (including 262 teachers with advanced degree , 148 professors) . CCAT has a number of high-level experts, with strong  teaching and research capability. CCAT is a highly respected college for the  rate of student obtain employment maintains 99% above for the past nine  years.

CCAT focuses on architectural modernization, green building intelligence, new type construction industrialization and construction industry information. It has the expertise for civil engineering (characterized by prefabricated construction technology), high-level equipment manufacturing (characterized by industrial robots), information technology (featured with BIM and VR technology), modern service industry, real estate development and management and art design （ characterized by environment and decoration ideas).

There are 51 majors in architectural design, including civil architecture, equipment manufacturing, electronic information, finance and business, tourism, culture and art. Our college, as a private university, has established the first academician expert workstation (provincial level) in Chongqing and invited professor Jiang Huancheng, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, to be honorary professor. Meanwhile, CREC has established virtual reality content production and motion sensing equipment R&D engineering center (provincial level). It has also established Cloudera Big Data Academy, the first big data academy in Chongqing.

CCAT has established cooperative relations with more than 100 companies, including ZTE, Hualong Network, Alibaba, Huashu Robot Corp., and the World Viz Company. The college has built the prefabricated construction engineering center, VR display and technology center, industrial robot research and training center, etc. which has carried out active cooperation with leading enterprises in their respective fields. CCAT cooperates with BiW (a German firm), Southampton Solent University (a British University) and Hungarian universities in offering joint training of 2+2 degrees or programs. 

With more than 30 years’ development, CCAT has become widely known as one of the best colleges in Chongqing. Meanwhile, it is also famous for the characteristics of safe and attractive campus.
In the 2018-2019 competitiveness ranking of China's vocational and technical colleges, CCAT has ranked the first among 18 private colleges and universities in Chongqing, It ranks ninth among the 48 vocational colleges in chongqing for the past three years. CCAT is ranked 356 among 1386 higher vocational and technical colleges in China.
