Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU), founded in 1978, is a regular institute of higher education under the administration of Tianjin Municipal Government. As the fourth branch of Tianjin University, back to over forty years ago, it carried out undergraduate education with the support of Tianjin University. In 1979, it was named Architectural Branch of Tianjin University, and in 1987, was renamed as Tianjin Institute of Urban Construction, and then as Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU) in 2013. 
Sound educational system, steadily improved quality of talent cultivation. TCU consists of 15 schools, 3 teaching departments (centers) and 1 school of continuing education. There are 17,740 full-time students, including 15,982 undergraduates, 1,551 postgraduates, 157 overseas students and 50 preparatory students. TCU offers 56 undergraduate programs,among which there are 3 national first-rate programs, 7 Tianjin first-rate programs, 1 national featured program, 1 national and 2 Tianjin municipal comprehensive reform pilot programs, 7 Tianjin branded construction programs, 5 Tianjin strategic emerging industries related  construction programs, 8 Tianjin programs of advantage and specialty, 12 Tianjin applied programs.   
Distinct disciplinary characteristics, continuously improved comprehensive scientific research ability. TCU has developed 7 disciplinary clusters of urban planning, urban construction, urban management, eco-city, smart city, urban economy and urban culture. Now the university offers 14 first-level master programs and 6 professional master programs, including 1 Tianjin first-rate discipline (Civil Engineering), 1 Tianjin first-rate discipline under construction (Environmental Science and Engineering) and 4 Tianjin featured disciplinary clusters and 6 Tianjin key disciplines.
Expanding international engagement and cooperation, significantly accelerated educational internationalization. TCU has signed MOU with 42 universities and institutions in 17 countries, and has launched 25 cooperation programs with 16 foreign universities. The Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run educational institution jointly offered by Tianjin Chengjian University, Bialystok University of Technology and Cracow University of Technology of Poland --International School of Engineering was officially established and has enrolled 229 students for the first intake. There are more than 1,100 long-term and short-term international students from 34 countries. 
Fine teaching conditions, beautiful and harmonious campus. TCU covers 610,100m2, with building area of 455,000m2. The university library and reference rooms of 14 schools own 1.3844 million books, 2.94 million e-books,62,900 e-journals and 83 databases in Chinese and foreign languages. Dedicated to urbanization and urban modernization, TCU sets up disciplines and programs properly in urban construction area, designs the talent cultivation objectives scientifically, continuously optimizes the talent training programs andstrengthens the practical abilities of students, while forming the education features of “focusing on  urban construction, adhering closely to related industries, emphasizing the cultivation of morality and capability, and cultivating competent and dedicated versatile applied talents”.   (Statistics by October, 2020)

Tianjin Chengjian University has a dormitory area for international students, which includes two dormitories and one living service center. All international students live in the dormitory. There are 213 accommodation rooms, which can accommodate 386 students. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, water heater, computer desk, single bed, wardrobe and other furniture.
The living service center is equipped with kitchen, multi-functional restaurant, laundry room, gymnasium, activity room, self-study room and other public facilities. There are 24-hour special personnel on duty in the dormitory area for international students. The entrance and exit of international students are managed by access control system, and the public area is fully monitored.

Step1 Log on http://sie-en.tcu.edu.cn and establish account
Step2 Fill out the applicant’s personal information and upload the scanned copy of supporting documents. 
Step3 If you are accepted, you will receive an electronic Admission Letter
Step4 Visa Application Form (JW202) Form and Official Admission Letter 
Step5 The Study Visa (X1 or X2 Visa) in China’s Embassy
Step6 Report your arrival at TCU

*Please upload the required documents in order to fulfill your application procedure. Each document has to be smaller than 1MB.
*Certificates, diplomas and transcripts must be notarized copies. All of the documents should be translated into Chinese or English.
*If you have previously studied at any Chinese university, please upload the Visa page of your passport and prepare a transfer letter which includes your attendance record (should be above 80%)
FEE FOR STUDYING AT TCU
Tuition
1. Chinese Program: RMB 6000/ semester; RMB 10000/academic year;
2. Undergraduate Program: (1) English Medium, RMB 20000/academic year (2) Chinese Medium, RMB 20000/academic year;
3. Master Program: (1) English Medium, RMB30000/academic year (2) Chinese Medium, RMB 24000/academic year.
Accommodation Fees
1. Single Room 900RMB/mouth/person/room
2. Double Room 600RMB/mouth/person/room
Life Expenses
The cost of living is about 1000 yuan per month, including food, transportation, communication and other expenses.
Other fees
*Registration fee: RMB 600;  
*Insurance premium: RMB 800 / year;  
*In addition, the fees for residence permit and physical examination are charged according to the actual standard
 
SCHOLARSHIP TYPES
1. Tianjin Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship
(1) For Freshmen
a. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health
b. Applicants should apply for undergraduate study in TCU
c. Education background and age limit:
• Applicants for undergraduate studies must have a graduation diploma of senior high school 
• be above the age of 18 and under the age of 30.
d. Scholarship coverage is first-year tuition fee exemption. 
e. It is granted in accordance with the relevant guidelines, the award criteria and scope determined according to the amount of the year.
f. Application must be submitted before June of each year.
(2) For sophomore, junior and senior students
a. a. international students who is undergraduate, graduate student in TCU.
b. International students who Qualified for each subject in the academic year.
c. International students who have registered for the coming academic year in TCU.
d. Scholarship coverage is one-year tuition fee exemption.
e. It is granted in accordance with the relevant guidelines, the award criteria and scope determined according to the amount of the year.
f. Winners are selected in September each year.
2. TCU Outstanding Freshman Scholarship
(1) The Outstanding freshmen scholarship shall be awarded to:
a. The Year-One students of TCU on either undergraduate or postgraduate level   who complete the registration at the specified time.
b. The Year-One students of TCU on either undergraduate or postgraduate level who pass the freshmen enrollment comprehensive test organized by TCU.
(2) Outstanding freshmen scholarship shall cover half of the tuition fees. The recipients shall be no more than 30% of the total number of freshmen students. The selection is based on the results of freshmen enrollment comprehensive test.
(3) Outstanding freshmen scholarship will be assessed after the freshmen enrollment comprehensive test. Rewarded students shall no longer participate in the current year outstanding academic scholarship selection.
3. TCU Outstanding Academic Scholarship
(1) The outstanding academic scholarship shall be awarded to:
a. international students who is undergraduate, graduate student in TCU.
b. International students who Qualified for each subject in the academic year.
c. International students who have registered for the coming academic year in TCU.
(2) The Outstanding academic scholarship is up to 5,000 RMB per person. The recipients are no more than 20% of the total number of students of the program.
(3) Winners of the Outstanding Academic Scholarship are selected in September each year.
4. TCU Outstanding Graduate Scholarship
(1) The outstanding graduate scholarship shall be awarded to:
a. Foreign student who is undergraduate, graduate student in TCU.
b. The ones who passes HSK Level 3 and above.
c. The ones who has won the outstanding academic scholarship at least once during the whole study period.
d. All courses are qualified during school years.
e. The ones whose graduation design (thesis) is above the medium level.
(2) The Outstanding graduate scholarship is up to 2,000 RMB per person. The recipients are no more than 10% of the total number of graduates of the program.
(3) Winners of Outstanding Graduates Scholarship shall be selected upon graduation.
5. TCU Outstanding Individual Scholarship
(1) Outstanding individual scholarship is for students who have made outstanding achievements in areas of science and technology, cultural exchange, and arts and sports.
(2) The Science and Technology Innovation Award. It is for ones who have published papers in seven types of academic journals prescribed by TCU or who are the winners of scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship contest of all levels. The recipients are no more than 10 persons annually. And the award is 1,000 RMB per person.
(3) The Culture Exchange Award. It is for ones who have outstanding performance in the Chinese cultural practice, public welfare activities. The recipients are no more than 20 persons annually. And the Award is 1000 RMB per person.
(4) The Arts and Sports Award. It is for one who actively organizes and/or participates in the above class level of literature and art, sports competitions and ones who have great achievements in arts and sports.  The recipients are no more than 20 persons annually. And the Award is 1000 RMB per person.
(5) Outstanding individual scholarship is assessed in September each year.
