Anshan Normal University is a full-time general undergraduate normal university. It is located in an excellent tourist city and a national civilized city with the world’s biggest jade Buddha, a famous hot spring in Asia, a national scenic spot of Qianshan, the hometown of Chinese jade and the iron and steel capital of the motherland. There are 51 full-time undergraduate majors (covering 8 disciplines of education, liberal arts, sciences, art, management, engineering, law, and history), 28 higher vocational majors, and 28 provinces with undergraduate enrollment. There are a total of more than 18,000 students of various types, with coordinate development among postgraduate education, undergraduate education, vocational education, adult education, and international student education. The school gives full play to the advantages of humanities and arts disciplines to help local city’s cultural construction. Relying on the Liu Lanfang Art Research Center, the Center of National Studies , and the Liren Art Museum to carry out the research, sorting and dissemination of regional characteristic cultures such as Qianshan Culture, Northern Ceramics, Anshan Storytelling, and Industrial Heritage. In 1994, with the approval of the State Education Commission, our university began to recruit international students ; In 1995, it enrolled the first international student from Japan; In 2001, it established the School of International Exchange, which cooperated with the International Exchange and Cooperation Department; In 2012, approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, our university became the work unit of undergraduate students with bachelor's degree in Chinese for international students; In 2013, it was approved as a Chinese government scholarship host institution for international students in China. In 2019, it was officially renamed as "School of International Education". The School focuses on undergraduate education and long-term language training, supplemented by short-term language training and cultural training. The college adopts small class teaching, with distinctive characteristics, unique teaching methods and high teaching quality. The school mainly offers Chinese language courses, as well as many other courses such as foreign trade, Chinese history, Chinese folk art, Tai Chi and martial arts.
