Yanshan University is one of national key universities. It is the major university supported by Hebei Province in the development of national first-class university and world first-class disciplines. YSU is a member of the Cooperation Consortium of Beijing High Technology Universities. Yanshan University, as an institution of Northeast Heavy Machinery Institute under the administration of the former Ministry of Machinery Industry, grew out of the renowned Harbin Institute of Technology. In 1978, it was identified as a national key institution of higher education. From 1985 to 1997, it had moved to Qinhuangdao City, and acquired its current name Yanshan University (YSU).
YSU offers 11 postdoctoral research programs and confers doctorates in 14 first-level disciplines and in 2 professional doctoral programs. YSU has 5 national key disciplines, and 16 provincial key disciplines. YSU's specialties of engineering, materials science, chemistry, and computer science have recently been ranked in the ESI's top 1%.

Procedures:
(1) Login the online application system at http://admission.ysu.edu.cn, and upload all the HD scanned version of the documents required. Images captured by mobile phone or camera and copies are not acceptable.
(2) Pay the registration fee, and upload the scanned version of bank receipt to application system. The application fee is unrefundable.
(3) The enrollment for degree programs is provided in the Fall Semester (generally September), for Preparatory programs provided in Spring and Fall semesters (March and September). Guarantee all the information and application documents submitted in this application are authentic, accurate, and compete, otherwise the application will not be processed or declined, and applicants bear the consequences.

1. National Scholarship

1) Bilateral Program (Type A)
The program accords with the cooperation and exchange agreements or consensus reached by the Chinese government and the governments and institutions of other nations. It is open to undergraduates, postgraduates, general and senior scholars.
An applicant shall file an application with the dispatching department of their home countries.

2. Hebei Provincial Government Scholarship
Hebei provincial government scholarship was established with the aims to enhance the development of excellent international students of undergraduate degree programs or above in Hebei Province. At the end of each year, a comprehensive evaluation will be conducted for eligible international students. The evaluation and distribution of scholarships will be carried out in accordance with the relevant regulations of the state and university.
3. YSU President Scholarship
YSU President Scholarship is established to support self-funded international students, including doctoral students, master's students, undergraduates, and preparatory students. Chinese government scholarship holders and international Chinese teacher scholarship holders are not eligible for the YSU President Scholarship application. A comprehensive evaluation will be conducted for eligible international students. The evaluation and distribution of scholarships will be carried out in accordance with the Yanshan University Measures on Annual Reviews of President Scholarship for International Students.

Applicants must meet the basic requirements of Yanshan University for international students. If the applicant is a student at school/university or is already employed, he/she must also submit an enrollment certificate issued by the institution or employment certificate provided by the employer. Non-Chinese or English versions must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
●Academic transcripts. Non-Chinese or English versions must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
● Original and photocopy of language proficiency certificate.
● Original and photocopy of certificates of competition and contest awards.
● Original and photocopy of works or articles published in academic journals.

2) The School of International Education will review and verify the applications, and forward the eligible applications to the YSU President Scholarship committee for evaluation. The committee is composed of members of the YSU International Student Admission Group.
3) The YSU President Scholarship committee will propose the list of winners based on review of the School's comments and applicant's materials (applicant interview can be organized when necessary).
4) The nomination list will be posted and publicized on the relevant websites for seven working days. After the publicity, if there are no objections, YSU School of International Education will inform the successful candidates of the result with written notification.
5) International students who have received scholarships shall go through the registration procedures before the date specified by the School, otherwise they will be treated as automatically waiving scholarships.
