Hubei University of Technology (HBUT) is a multidisciplinary university covering nine disciplines, specifically Literature, Science, Art, Economics, Management, Law, Education, Medicine, and its specialty discipline Engineering. Originally established in 1952, Hubei Institute of Light Industry merged with Hubei Academy of Agricultural Machinery in 1984 to form Hubei Polytechnic University, and was renamed as Hubei University of Technology in 2004. It is one of Hubei Province’s key universities for development and has been assessed by Hubei Provincial Communist Party Committee and the Provincial Government as a high level, standard-setting, linchpin university in the higher education system of Hubei Province. HBUT has the authority to confer a full range of degrees, including Master’s and PhD degrees, and it is authorized to recommend its excellent graduates for postgraduate education with exemption from the national entrance examination. In 2010, HBUT won the title of “National Exemplary University for Graduate Employment”. In 2014, it attained Tier 1 university status. HBUT gained membership to the National Basic Ability Construction Project of Western and Central China Higher Educational Institutions in 2012 and 2016. In 2016, HBUT was selected as one of the first batch of innovation and entrepreneurship education reform demonstration universities in China. In 2018, HBUT was recognized by the Ministry of Education as one of the top-50 exemplary universities for innovation and entrepreneurship.
HBUT started to enroll international students from the year 1998, which is among one of the first universities authorized by the Ministry of Education.
School of International Education has actively explored teaching methods, trying to combine solid fundamental education with professional practices. A series of English-based courses with HBUT features has been established and the quality of international education has been improved.
International Student Association (ISA): a great way to enrich your experience by joining the abundant activities including the International Cultural Festival, the New Year Gala, volunteer activities and so on.
Band: The core of guitarist, bassist, drummer and keyboardist, has supported numerous student singers. By creating originals or adapting cover songs in different styles including blues, funk, jazz, latino, metal, pop and rock, the band has displayed its musical flexibility.

Applicants shall go to this website: http://hbut.at0086.cn/student starts the procedure.
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid foreign passports.
2. Applicants must abide by the rules and regulations of China and the university, be of good character and respect Chinese social customs and habits.
3. Applicant must be physically and mentally healthy, has no serious diseases, infectious diseases or serious physical defects. Applicant must pass the required national admission medical examination.
4. Candidates who apply for programs taught in Chinese shall provide a copy of their HSK certificate (within the 2-year validity period) or other equivalent Chinese proficiency certification. The applicant’s HSK4 score must be above 190, excepting those whose mother tongue is Chinese or who attended high school courses taught in Chinese. Those whose HSK scores are below 190 must attend a one-year Chinese refresher course. Non-native English speaking applicants who apply for programs taught in English are required to provide TOEFL or IELTS scores.
5. Scores of an internationally recognized standardized test (Such as the SAT/ACT/A-Level/ AP/IB, etc.)
6. An official transcript of the applicant’s highest educational degree (original copy and Chinese or English notarized copy) .
7. An official certificate of the applicant’s highest educational degree (original copy and Chinese or English notarized copy) .
I. Chinese Language Students: Graduation certificate of national/district unified high school.
II. Bachelor Degree Program: Graduation certificate of national/district unified high school.
III. Master Degree Program:
lA corresponding or equivalent Bachelor degree (degree must be obtained before admission).
l2 letters of recommendation from 2 associate professors (or experts with considerable title) related to the discipline.
IV. Ph.D Degree Program:
lA corresponding or equivalent Master degree (degree must be obtained before admission).
l2 letters of recommendation from 2 professors (or experts with considerable title) related to the discipline.
8. Certificate of No Criminal Record.
9. The International Student Economic Guarantee Copy of the passport and work or income certificate of the guarantor.
10. Other materials, for example, certificate of reward, certificate of honor, scanned pictures of published papers.
Admission Procedure
1. Online Application

Complete the application form during the application season.
Upload required documents.
Comprehensive Evaluation
2. Application Review
Application submitted with all the information correct and provided will be evaluated by Hubei University of Technology.
3. School Review
Applicants who have passed the Application Review will be forwarded to respective schools for further review, in which interview may be conducted for certain programs. If interview required, detailed information will be informed in advance.
4. Admission and Offer
The admission is based on a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance, language proficiency, supporting materials as well as interview.
If you are successfully admitted, formal Admission Notice and JW 202 form will be issued.
